With the wonderful Hereford Quakers Scilla helped raise over £500 to support local peace builders via Peace Direct on 11 April 2018.
Scilla said “At the beginning I mentioned the Dalai Lama, and our host said he [HHDL] had proposed 2 mins quiet in 1988 to invite an audience to mentally imagine Gorbachov and Reagan hugging…and soon that’s what actually happened! So we asked for 2 minutes silence at the start last night, asking people to imagine Trump, Putin, May, Xie, Assad and Macron around a table actually AGREEING a peace plan. And that’s what we did; it was one of those deep, deep silences.
It felt so good to do something quiet when so many feel we are extremely close to world war.”
