On Wednesday 17 June, Scilla took part in a virtual roundtable discussion on gender equality hosted by Catalyst 2030. Her colleagues included Katherine Lucey (Solar Sisters), Karen Downes (The Flourish Initiative), Urvashi Sahni (Study Hall Educational Foundation) and Atalanti Moquette (Giving Women).
As women and girls are being more directly impacted by isolation in the convergence of the personal and the public spaces, under pressure the load is falling more upon women and their leadership is showing the way to handle the crisis. The focus of the discussion was how we can ensure gender equality and empowerment of women, with Scilla speaking specifically about their role in the prevention and resolution of armed conflict – it is when women’s voices are raised in these contexts that great things happen.
